Welcome to our Civil War Links. We hope that you find it enjoyable and informative. We enjoy learning about the history of these United States and here are the sites that intrigued our natural curousity about the Civil War. We offer them to everyone with the hope that by learning where we came from we can decide where to lead this nation.
The Civil War began at 4:30 a.m., on the 12th of April, 1861, when the first Confederate shell smashed into Fort Sumpter. Within weeks militia were being organized in both the North and the South. The Bloody years of war that followed cost the lives of 600,000 men, two percent of the country's population. At the heart of the conflict, the issue of slavery divided states, nationalities, neighbors and even families.

Maybe not your ancestors, but you can probably be assured that someone you know had ancestors that had a hand in forming the United States of America. Part of that excursion was the Oregon Trail. Many families packed up their belongings, sold their homes, or just wanted something different. None of them had any idea of what was ahead of them. They started out with enthusiasm and hope, but many would not make it. Have you ever wondered what it was like? Do you wonder how they survived? What about the trail itself? If you have then this is the site for you.
